Message from the Principal- December
Honey Lundin

We’re here…holiday season! 2022 has no doubt been an exciting year, and we have more plans for some added fun this December. We want these next few weeks to end the calendar year be a fun a fun and memorable time to come to school! We have posted a special December to Remember activity calendar for students (see in Class Dojo), and your child’s teacher will soon be sending information regarding our Christmas Program performance ('s coming back!), Holiday Learning Activity Day, and Class Holiday Party very soon.

We are almost to the halfway mark of the school year. Hard to believe, I know! If you haven’t already, now would be a great time to ask your child about his/her learning goals for the year and use that information for encouragement in working hard each and every day. Our 3rd - 5th grade students have learning goals based on the LEAP Test, and our lower grade students have goals based on Reading skills and Math benchmark assessments. Our hope is that all students are successful in meeting their individual goals and reach their full potential.

We hope that all of our Mudbug families have a wonderful and joyous holiday season full of fun, laughter, and love!

October Principal Message
Honey Lundin

Hello, October! Can you believe that we are well into fall already? We have had a great and exciting start, and October is when we seem to really settle into the comforts that come with cooler weather as well as familiarity with school routines. We are approaching the end of our first nine weeks grading period, followed by a nice little Fall Break, with Parent Teacher Conference Day right around the corner on Monday, October 24. I encourage you to take advantage of this day so that you can remain informed about your child's progress. Your child's teacher will send home an invitation in the coming week.

Parent-teacher conferences are one of the most useful tools that we have as a parent and teacher team to ensure that your children are getting the most from their education. Parents can get the lowdown on how their children are doing, and teachers want to make sure they communicate everything a parent needs to know about their teaching style and how the child is performing in school — but all in a 15-minute block of time. It is suggested that perhaps you come to your meeting with some questions in mind in order to get a clear picture of our child's progress.

We are invested in our students and will continue to find creative ways to guide them on their own paths to success! Here's to an outstanding October!

Hi Mudbug Families,

Oh my goodness...what a great start to the year we have had! August was full of events...Prep Day, the first days of school, Open House, Dojo Cash-ins, Mighty Mudbugs of the Month. We have had an exciting start, and our Mudbugs are settling in wonderfully into the school year. Can you believe we are already entering into our second month of school?

As you know, our first quarter is a little past the halfway mark. Just like last year, parents will be able to access interim grades online instead of receiving a paper copy. These will be available to view on September 7. Did you know that you can actually access and view your child's grades at anytime in grades 1-5? If you still need assistance in accessing your child's grades in PowerSchool, please reach out to our Guidance and Records office for help.

Also, stay connected with Class Dojo, Peach Jar, Facebook, and our website for the latest and greatest news.

We look forward to a Sensational September together. I hope you have a great jump start to the month with a well-deserved 3-day weekend. Enjoy the Labor Day holiday!

Hi Mudbug Families,

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a fantastic summer, and are ready to return refreshed and motivated to tackle this school year. We are so excited to start the new year with some normalcy, and can't wait to unleash the limitless potential our Mudbugs possess!

As we move forward in our adventure this year, please know that our teachers and staff are committed to continuing to provide the very best learning experiences for your children. We are here to serve our community and always with our school vision in mind. Our school vision is our "WHY" and helps us to make educational decisions despite any obstacles we may have to overcome. Allow me to share our vision statement with you again as we start this year together.

Through a safe and respectful environment, with the support of our families and community, Sorrento Primary School will build a social and academic foundation for students so they may become responsible citizens and future leaders within our society.

We believe that our school community can and will help to develop our young Mudbugs into positive leaders. I am appreciative and humbled by your support, encouragement, and the trust you place in us in teaching your children, and look forward to another great year together.
