Message from the Principal's Office

Happy Spring, Mudbugs!

What an exciting time of year! Spring Break is upon us, and I hope all of our Mudbug families will enjoy their time at home with family. April leaves us with only a little over six weeks left in the school year to finish strong! It always seems to fly by, and before we know it…Summer will be here!

During that short time frame, we will have Easter parties, 2 dances, 2nd Grade Walk of Fame and so much more! Additionally, students in grades K-2 will engage in their end of year literacy DIBELS assessment (April 20-24) and grades 3-5 will take the LEAP 2025 Assessment (April 28-May 6). While many stakeholders sometimes disagree about state assessments and the details that surround them, it is still important to be supportive of your child's efforts on standardized tests and to help each do his or her best. The results measured give schools information on how to best plan for the next school year.

Here’s how you can help your child prepare for LEAP testing week. Familiarize yourself with the details of the assessments and take advantage of the practice tests and tips provided on the LDOE website here: https://bealearninghero.org/spring-forward/louisiana/. Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and eats a healthy breakfast each day so they can work at full capacity. Remain positive and calm, and your child will too. Our students work hard all year, and we want all of that hard work to shine!

We look forward to an amazingly awesome April, so we can finish the year strong together. There is still lots of learning and fun school activities to engage in as we spring forward to the end of the school year!
