Purpose of the Policy
Sorrento Primary School is committed to:
- Building strong partnerships between families and the school
- Providing regular, meaningful communication about student learning
- Encouraging family involvement in school activities and decisions
- Supporting families with resources to help students succeed at home and at school
School Commitments to Families
Sorrento Primary School will:
- Involve parents and families in developing and improving school plans
- Provide support and resources to help families stay engaged in their child’s education
- Coordinate family engagement efforts with federal, state, and local programs
- Work with community members and organizations to strengthen family involvement
Supporting Student Achievement
The school will:
- Share information about student progress regularly
- Help families understand how to support learning at home
- Provide opportunities to connect with teachers and school staff

Annual Review and Improvement
Each year, the school will:

Purpose of Family Engagement
Sorrento Primary School encourages:

Communication with Families

These tools provide consistent updates about school events, student progress, and important announcements.
Student Progress Updates
Families are informed about student learning through:
- Report cards

- Literacy screener results

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Opportunities for conferences are provided:

- March 23, 2026

Title I Feedback for Stakeholders Form
Parents’ Right to Know
Parents’ Right to Know
All schools receiving Title I funding are required to inform families that they have the right to request information about the professional qualifications of their child’s teacher.
This right applies to all students in the school, regardless of whether they receive Title I services.
Information Parents May Request
Parents have the right to request and receive information about:
- Whether the teacher has met state certification and licensing requirements for the grade level and subject taught
- Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status
- The teacher’s college degree major and any graduate certifications or degrees
- Whether their child receives support from paraprofessionals, and the qualifications of those paraprofessionals
Additional Parent Rights
- Parents will be notified if their child is taught for more than four consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified
- Parents may request this information at any time by contacting the school
